Description

Melanotan I (afamelanotide) is a synthetic analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone studied for its selective agonist activity at the melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R). Laboratory research has used this compound in melanocyte cell-culture models to investigate MC1R signal transduction, eumelanin synthesis pathways, and receptor-binding characteristics relative to non-selective melanocortin agonists.
