Answers to the questions researchers ask most about ordering, testing, and receiving compounds from Altara Bio.
Research Compounds & RUO Status
What is a research peptide?
A research peptide is a short chain of amino acids used in laboratory settings to study cell signaling, receptor binding, and metabolic pathways. Our compounds are supplied strictly for that purpose — controlled, in vitro research.
What does “Research Use Only” (RUO) mean?
RUO means a compound is sold exclusively for laboratory and research use. It has not been evaluated by the FDA and is not intended for human or animal consumption, diagnostic use, or any therapeutic application.
Who can purchase from Altara Bio?
Our products are sold to qualified researchers, laboratories, and institutions. You must be 21 years of age or older, and by ordering you certify that you meet these requirements.
Where are Altara Bio compounds manufactured?
All Altara Bio peptides are manufactured in the USA, with production and third-party batch testing conducted entirely domestically for a fully traceable, American-made supply chain.
Purity, Testing & COAs
Are your compounds tested for purity?
Yes. Compounds are tested by independent US laboratories for identity, purity, and content. Current reports are posted on each product page.
Do you provide a Certificate of Analysis (COA)?
Yes. Current reports are posted on each product page. If you need documentation for a specific batch before purchasing, contact us and we’ll provide it.
How should I store my compounds?
Compounds ship lyophilized and stability-preserved under cold-chain handling. Store vials in a freezer or refrigerator, away from light and moisture, until you’re ready to reconstitute for laboratory use. Handling and storage are the researcher’s responsibility.
Ordering & Payment
How do I pay for my order?
Altara Bio uses a secure, post-checkout payment process — no card details are entered on our website. After checkout, you’ll receive Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle payment instructions on the confirmation screen and by email. See our Payment Process page for full details.
Why is payment collected after checkout instead of on the website?
This keeps payment information off our website entirely. You pay directly through Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle, and your order ships once payment is received and matched to your order number.
Do you offer any discounts?
New customers save 15% on their first order with code ALTARA15. Orders over $250 ship free, and returning or higher-volume researchers can contact us about ongoing pricing.
Shipping & Delivery
When will my order ship?
Orders ship the business day after payment is confirmed. Compounds receive cold-chain handling through final packaging, then ship for 1–3 day priority delivery.
What are the shipping costs?
Standard shipping is $10, and free on orders over $250. Free local pickup is also available, coordinated after your order.
Is packaging discreet?
Yes. All orders ship in plain, discreet, secure packaging with no reference to contents.
Will I receive tracking information?
Yes — tracking information is emailed to you as soon as your order ships.
Returns, Order Issues & Cancellations
What is your return policy?
Due to the nature of research compounds, all sales are final once an order has shipped. We can’t accept returns of opened or shipped products for safety and integrity reasons.
What if my order arrives damaged, incorrect, or doesn’t match its COA?
For added peace of mind, you can add Purchase Protection to your order at checkout — if your package is lost or stolen in transit, we’ll reship it or refund you. If your order instead arrives damaged, incorrect, or doesn’t match its Certificate of Analysis, contact us within 7 days of delivery at admin@altarabio.com with your order number and photos, and we’ll make it right with a replacement or store credit.
Can I cancel an order?
Orders that haven’t been paid yet can be cancelled at no charge — simply don’t submit payment, and the order will expire automatically.
Legal
Are these products FDA approved or intended for human use?
No. Statements on this site haven’t been evaluated by the FDA, and no product is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. All products are sold strictly for laboratory and research purposes.
What am I agreeing to when I place an order?
By purchasing, you certify that you’re a qualified researcher of legal age (21+), and you assume all responsibility for the safe handling, use, and storage of the products you receive. See our full Terms & Conditions.
